How does the Decimal field type work?
The Decimal field type extracts numbers with decimal places for precise measurements.
What it does: • Extracts numbers with decimal points • Understands "point" and "and" in speech (e.g., "forty-nine point nine nine") • Converts currency words (e.g., "forty-nine ninety-nine" → 49.99) • Strips units (e.g., "185.5 lbs" → 185.5)
Best for: • Prices and costs • Weights with precision • Measurements (height, distance, volume) • Percentages • Scientific data requiring decimals
Voice Examples: • "price is forty-nine ninety-nine" → 49.99 • "weight two point five kilograms" → 2.5 • "temperature ninety-eight point six degrees" → 98.6 • "height five point eight feet" → 5.8
Currency Handling: • "nineteen ninety-five" → 19.95 • "one hundred twenty-five dollars" → 125.00 • "$49.99" (typed) → 49.99
Description Usage: ❌ The field description is NOT used in the AI prompt. The AI uses hardcoded extraction logic for decimal numbers.
Number vs Decimal: • Number: Whole numbers only (15, 225, 50) • Decimal: Numbers with decimals (15.5, 225.75, 50.25)
Example field setup: • Field Name: "Price" • Type: decimal • Description: "Product price in dollars" (helpful for you, not used in AI)
Pro Tip: For money, you can say "forty-nine ninety-nine" naturally and the AI will correctly extract 49.99.
