How does the Likert Scale field type work?
The Likert Scale field type creates rating fields with configurable min/max values and display modes.
What it does: • Extracts numeric ratings from voice or text • Configurable range (1-5, 1-10, 0-100, etc.) • Three display modes: numbers, stars, or hearts • Validates ratings are within configured range
Best for: • Satisfaction ratings (1-5) • Performance reviews • Quality assessments • NPS scores (0-10) • Any rating or scoring system
Display Modes:
- Number mode: Shows "3 / 5"
- Stars mode: Shows "⭐⭐⭐" (out of 5)
- Hearts mode: Shows "❤️❤️❤️" (out of 5)
Configuration: When creating a Likert Scale field: • Set Min value (usually 1 or 0) • Set Max value (usually 5 or 10) • Choose display mode (numbers, stars, hearts)
Voice Examples: For a 1-5 scale: • "customer satisfaction is 4 out of 5" → 4 (displays as ⭐⭐⭐⭐) • "rate the service 5" → 5 • "quality rating is 3" → 3
For a 1-10 scale: • "quality rating eight" → 8 • "NPS score is 9 out of 10" → 9
Visual Feedback: • Empty fields show the scale range preview (e.g., "· · · · ·" for 1-5) • Filled fields show rating with subtle numeric reminder below • Example: "⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1 · · · 5"
Description Usage: ❌ The field description is NOT used in the AI prompt. The AI extracts numeric values within the configured range.
Example field setup: • Field Name: "Satisfaction" • Type: likert_scale • Min: 1 • Max: 5 • Display: stars
Common Ranges: • 1-5: Classic 5-star rating • 1-10: Detailed granular scoring • 0-10: NPS (Net Promoter Score) • 1-100: Percentage-style ratings
Validation: If a user says a number outside the range (e.g., "6" for a 1-5 scale), validation will fail.
