How does the Multi-Select field type work?
The Multi-Select field type lets users pick MULTIPLE options from a predefined list.
What it does: • User selects MULTIPLE options from your predefined choices • Results stored as comma-separated values • Fuzzy matching for each selection • Case-insensitive matching
Best for: • Tags (Design, Marketing, Engineering) • Features included (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) • Symptoms present (Fever, Cough, Headache, Fatigue) • Multiple categories that can apply simultaneously
Setup: When creating a Multi-Select field:
- Define your field name (e.g., "Symptoms")
- Add predefined options: Fever, Cough, Headache, Fatigue, Nausea
- Users can select multiple options
Voice Examples: If your options are: Fever, Cough, Headache, Fatigue, Nausea
• "symptoms include fever, cough, and headache" → "Fever, Cough, Headache" • "patient has fatigue and nausea" → "Fatigue, Nausea" • "symptoms are headache and fever" → "Headache, Fever"
Multiple Selections: The AI extracts all mentioned options: • "Design and Marketing and Engineering" → "Design, Marketing, Engineering" • "Fever, cough, headache" → "Fever, Cough, Headache"
Description Usage: ❌ The field description is NOT used in the AI prompt. The predefined options are what matter.
Multiple Choice vs Multi-Select: • Multiple Choice: ONE selection only • Multi-Select: MULTIPLE selections allowed
Example field setup: • Field Name: "Symptoms" • Type: multi_select • Options: Fever, Cough, Headache, Fatigue, Nausea
Storage: Results are stored as comma-separated text in Google Sheets: → "Fever, Cough, Headache"
Display: Empty fields show all available options, so users know what they can select.
